Healthy Retina
The retina is the thin membrane that covers the back of the interior of the eye. The retina contains specialized nerve cells which receive visual images from the front of the eye. These images are converted to nervous signals by the retina which are then sent out through the optic nerve to the brain for processing. Capillaries - the smallest type of blood vessels - supply blood to the retina.
