Thrombosis Risk Factors
There are numerous risk factors for thrombosis, because blood clots can form in any part of the circulatory system and for varying reasons. Risk factors include inactivity (for instance, bed rest after surgery or long trips by airplane or car), being overweight, high cholesterol, smoking, cancer, broken leg or hip, pregnancy, stroke, heart disease, oral contraceptives, and genetics.
